Erica Mu – Senior Histology Scientist: Erica first became interested in histology while researching the neurophysiology of stress at the School of Biomedical Sciences at UQ, using heavy-metal staining to investigate neuronal structure in the rodent limbic system. Erica worked at the University of Queensland School of Biomedical Sciences Histology Facility as the Senior Scientist prior to joining TRI in January 2023 to lead the TRI Histology Core. Erica has expertise on performing histology on a variety of samples including human, rat, mouse, cells, organoids, plants, minerals, and marine creatures.
Anna Reid – Histology Officer: Anna has been working in histology since 2022 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science with first class honours from the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Queensland. Her research during this time was in the field of reproductive endocrinology and has particular histological expertise in this area. During her time working in histology, Anna has worked on an extensive range of tissue types in many species (human, animal and plant) and is skilled in all stages of the histological process (dissection, sample preparation, embedding, FFPE & frozen sectioning, special stains and immunohistochemistry).
Sharla Kennedy – Histology Officer: Sharla has 30 years of experience in research and diagnostics histology. She holds a certificate in Histology through The New Zealand Institute of Medical Science attained in December 2000. Over the years, Sharla has developed knowledge and skills in Processing, Microtomy, Frozen sections and a wide range of staining techniques including Immunohistochemistry.
