OverviewEquipmentExpertiseResourcesVirtual Tour

Microanatomy of cells and tissue

Histology is an essential foundational technique for many biological scientists and clinicians, allowing them to visualise and better understand the microanatomy of cells and tissue.

TRI’s Histology Facility provides access to a range of specialized equipment and supports full-service sample-to-slide histology work, as well as self-service operation, with training provided to users who would like to work independently.

Facility staff are highly experienced in the fields of medical research, clinical pathology and translational work with a broad range of samples, including: pathology samples, animal samples, insects, fish, minerals, and plant materials.

Capabilities

  • Raw sample processing for storage or sectioning
  • Sectioning and slide mounting for sample analysis.
  • Paraffin-embedded blocks, frozen sample, and bone sectioning capabilities
  • Optimisation and staining of routine H&E, special stains, and immunostaining for sample visualization. Slides can be provided to Microscopy Core for scanning and digitization.

Training

The Facility offers hands-on equipment training for embedding and sectioning. An ‘Introduction to Histology’ seminar is held monthly, where new users can learn about all aspects of histology and how to access and use the TRI Histology Core.
