A Precinct for Innovation

The Queensland Government is committed to promoting our state’s biomedical capabilities. TRI is based within the Boggo Road Innovation Precinct for health, biomedical and environmental sciences, adjacent to globally recognised research, translation, and manufacture infrastructure.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre, providing care in all major adult specialties (except obstetrics) and is one of Australia’s leading academic and research health centres.

Thermo Fisher Scientific, together with its pharma services brand Patheon

Supports Aussie biotech firms to make biopharmaceuticals locally. It is the first company in Australia to contract manufacture drugs on a commercial scale using mammalian cell lines. The Queensland-based facility provides end-to-end technical capabilities for clinical and commercial grade biopharmaceuticals.

The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia is ranked in the world’s top 50 and is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching institutions. The University’s Dutton Park Campus sits adjacent to the Translational Research Institute.

The University of Queensland’s School of Pharmacy (previously known as Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence – PACE), jointly developed by The University of Queensland and the whole Australian pharmacy profession, is the leading facility for pharmaceutical research, education and commercialisation in Australia.

Collaboration

Within this precinct, a culture of cross-sector collaboration has sprung up as we see partnerships between academia, start-ups and industry contribute to the rise of open innovation.

Ecosciences Precinct (ESP)

Located within the Boggo Road Innovation Precinct, ESP is driving cutting-edge climate and earth science discoveries spearheaded by anchor tenants such as the Department of Environmental Science, Department of Agricultural & Fisheries, as well as CSIRO and their BioFoundry

Department of Environment, Science and Innovation – DESI

The department develops and coordinates science policy and supports and invests in research. It provides scientific information and advice to inform planning and management. Learn more

Invasive Plant and Animal Science Unit – Agri-Science, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAFF)

The unit researches the ecology and impacts of pest species and develops science-based tools and management practices to landholders, local governments and other land managers. Learn more

    Remote Sensing Sciences – DESI

The Remote Sensing Sciences uses satellite imagery, data from airborne platforms and field surveys to map and monitor landscapes in Queensland. Learn more

    The Chemistry Centre – DESI

The Chemistry Centre is the leading centre for the analysis of Queensland soils, plants, sediments and waters to support government and other research projects. Learn more

National Centre for Timber Durability and Design Life

The National Centre is a joint venture between the University of the Sunshine Coast, The University of Queensland, Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and Forest and Wood Products Australia. It aims to be global leader in timber durability and design life research including coordinated research in timber durability and the development of a new cadre of timber research scientists. Research priorites include developing process-based predictive models for wood decay, and evaluating durability and durability enhancement of Australian commercial species, and new timber building products. Learn more.

CSIRO – BioFoundry (located next door at 42 Boggo Rd, Dutton Park Qld 4102)

The CSIRO BioFoundry offers services in the field of synthetic biology. Synthetic biology applies engineering principles to designing and building biological systems, making it possible to develop more sustainable and effective solutions to tackle environmental, health, manufacturing, and other industry challenges. Learn more.

CSIRO – Health and Biosecurity Unit

CSIRO’s Health and Biosecurity lifts Australia’s preparedness and responsiveness to health and biosecurity risks. Learn more.

CSIRO – Land and Water Business Unit

CSIRO Land and Water brings together interdisciplinary teams that combine biophysical and social sciences to develop solutions for complex environmental challenges. Learn more.
